Holocaust survivors, Holocaust victims - a message from the Chairman
I was ten years old when my family and I - along with millions of our brethren - were subjected to the ordeal of suffering and humiliation at the hands of the Nazi beast. They would never break my spirit; and upon my release, at the age of 15, I joined a Zionist youth movement and set out with my friends to fulfill the Zionist dream in the Land of Israel - an endeavor that has defined my path in life and taken deep root in my very being . Joining the Company for Location and Restitution of Holocaust Victims' Assets brings me a personal sense of closure - to work with a wonderful team of people who work day and night seeking historical justice for a swiftly diminishing group of survivors who experienced the Nazi hell: this is for me the most important mission possible.
Our time is short. The Company for Location and Restitution of Holocaust Victims' Assets was established too late, and we are aware that our endeavors - fervent as they may be - will be irrelevant in only a few years time. Our means of achieving the goal of reinstating the assets of Holocaust victims to their legal beneficiaries is not easy. We encounter hindrances posed by banks and other institutions along the way, as well as the objective difficulties of locating heirs and additional assets that once belonged to Holocaust victims. Nevertheless, we will not rest. We are fully dedicated! The members of the board, the management and each one of the Company employees are deeply imbued with our mission and an unending obligation to achieve our end. Along with them, I will continue in my established path of public service, aspiring to achieve historical justice and to live a happy and rewarding life. To conclude, let me call upon the public to open your eyes and your hearts so that this national goal may be attained. If you have any information about assets in Israel that originally belonged to a victim of the Nazis or know of a relative whose assets are listed in the Company's published list of assets, please contact us.
Yours, Menachem Ariav Chairman, The Company for Location and Restitution of Holocaust Victims' Assets
